Day 38 – Educated on the use of cable ties and really bloody hungry

Didn’t get the best nights sleep and woke up quite a few times but go up early enough to get in a good 50 minutes on the treadmill accompanied by my trusted coffee. I need to point out at this stage of the blog that I woke up starving, my stomach was growling. This is an important fact as it will help you visualise my day at work and in particular my mood. Completed my abs session and was on my way to work.

Upon arriving to work I was still in a rather pleasant mood, which for me is amazing. I go and heat up my porridge and get a coffee and in the space of around 5 minutes I am transformed into a possessed monster who is absolutely fucking starving (apologies for swearing but this word best helps describe the mood precisely). Phil (who is 1 foot taller than me) made the fatal mistake of trying to engage conversation with me whilst I was eating my porridge AND when I had updated the Niki Mood board to show ‘Absolutely Starving’. So whilst dribbling porridge down my chin I point my spoon at the sign, karate kick the arm on his chair (why I did that I don’t know), finish what is in my mouth and tell him to leave me alone until I have eaten. At around 9am my mood is returned to a stable starving minus the need to kill anyone.

My levels of hunger remain quite high throughout the day and its another busy day at work so no lunchtime walk for Gary (my lunchtime walking partner) and I. I think Gary was quite happy about this as he didn’t look too happy about the mornings episode and the potential for a relapse later in the day.

One thing that did cheer me up and everyone else on our project was a delightful but rather strange Facebook message from a new ‘friend’. So now that I produce a daily blog and promote the gym clothing brand Just Strong Clothing, my profile on Facebook is public so anyone can add me. This is currently resulting in around 100 friend requests a day, I need a full time PA to cope with this. Obviously you get random requests every now and then and I am going to share these experiences with you because most of the time they are that weird you just don’t know how they ever got to that point in life. So today I get a new friend request with no photo which I normally don’t accept, but in my state of starvation I was not thinking clearly and accepted. A private message comes through straight away with the following request;

‘Should I put cable tie around my balls until you say I can try and cut it off?’

I am not entirely sure what this has to do with body building or fitness in general, so this person was quickly blocked and then discussed by everyone at work. God only knows what tomorrow’s Facebook Randomness of The Day will be but I am sure they are going to get worse.

Before training this evening I stocked up on deep freeze spray and ibuprofen as my knee is still sore but just a little bit. My session tonight was legs and back followed by 30 minutes on the treadmill. I felt pretty strong doing hip thrusters today so started off on 70kg, 4 sets with 10 reps. The slow concentration movement with my lat pull downs means that I stick to the same weight otherwise I end up losing form and can’t squeeze for 1 second when my lats are engaged. I didn’t feel my knee at all tonight which I thought I would especially on the single leg press, so I am thinking that all is well in the knee department but will continue to take ibuprofen and use the deep freeze for the rest of the week.

Th most important thing I need to update on is the fact that my Wonder Woman socks for dead lifting have arrived – I am going to look so cool its unreal
