The day starts off as normal, fasted cardio on the beloved stairway to heaven. I am off on a client visit so will be eating my breakfast at the gym and then heading off to pick up my work colleagues on the way. No abs session this morning as I don’t have time, so the kettle is on and porridge is in the microwave. Quick chat in the changing rooms whilst eating my breakfast and I have a quick shower and visit to the toilet. I go to open the toilet door, nothing happens. I try again and yet still nothing happens. The barrel in the chamber is stuck in the door frame and has locked me in. I am stood in my towel and shower cap clinging desperately to my shower gel banging on the door hoping someone will hear me over the hair dryers and general chit-chat. Two things go through my mind, will I ever eat food again being trapped in the toilet and could shower gel taste nice. They hear me and go find someone to try and figure it out. After a few minutes (although it felt like nearly an hour) a rather proud man stands the other side of the door with the door handle removed and then sees the state of me and quickly looks away. I thank him and have minutes to get ready. So to assist I make another full caffeinated coffee ready for the drive.
During our journey we stop and I have another large full caffeinated coffee (there is a reason why I am telling you this). We arrive at our destination and I take on another full caffeine coffee and two diet cokes. Around an hour later I cant focus, feel like I am going to be sick and look extremely grey and a little bit vile. It’s lunchtime so I whack two meals down me hoping that its because I am hungry. It’s worth pointing out that at the start of the day I had a terrible heart burn feeling every time I took a sip of coffee and the same was happening when I drank the Diet Coke. I decide to stop drinking coffee and just stick to water. An hour or two later and I am feeling a lot better although totally drained.
I get home earlier than normal and go straight to bed after I have finished my final meal. I sleep for two hours and then drag myself to the gym for my leg workout, which isn’t the best but its not too bad considering I have no energy. I finish the session off with a 20 minute walk and go home straight to bed again.
I didn’t complete this blog on the actual day as is was far too tired. Upon reflection this morning I think I need to knock the full caffeine coffees on the head as well as the Diet Coke. It seems I had a caffeine overload. So going forward water, fizzy water if I am feeling hungry and de-caff coffee (limited) and herbal tea.
I originally thought this had happened due to the serious ordeal I faced in the morning and that I had had to seriously consider being locked in a toilet for the rest of my life. It turns out I had too much caffeine over too short a period. One positive thing (i am trying to find a positive thing a day instead of moaning about everything), is that i still went to the gym and tried my best during my workout. Previously I would have just stayed in bed and not bothered, but these days I am maintaining the focus and drive. On a side note always take your phone with you to the toilet just in case you get trapped like me.
