So just over two weeks ago I underwent breast augmentation surgery which has impacted the use of my upper body more than I ever anticipated it would. For the first week I couldn’t really do much as the anaesthetic took a while to go through my system. Thankfully for the first few days I stayed at my mates house which is good because I got stuck in bed one morning and had to slug my way out as I couldn’t use my arms to prop me up. Since the surgery I have just eaten what others were eating or what I wanted to and have had a proper ‘down time’ which I think has helped my body recover. At first I panicked and thought I would end up putting on 20 stones so asked one of my friends to drop off her treadmill so that I could at least do cardio every day. That didn’t really go to plan as for the first few days it felt like my breast bone and ribs had been broken, so the ability to take in a deep breath was not possible at that time. Once that pain subsided my body swelled up so much I looked like Violet Beauregard- the child off Charlie and the Chocolate Factory who inflates into a giant blueberry. So in my second week I managed to walk a little bit just to try and get the fluid off my body, but I had to hold on and couldn’t be bothered putting gym clothes on and trainers so walked in my pjs and slippers.
I would like to point out that I had planned to be back at the gym 3 days after surgery and back riding the horse after 2 weeks – got that a bit wrong.
So today was my first day back at work and my first day back on diet and doing cardio. I have been desperate to get back to the gym and have literally had enough of making random food purchases, I have never loved chicken and rice as much as I do right now. I got a bit upset in the gym today as I will have to be a cardio bitch for a few weeks until I can lift weights.
It was good to get back to work and actually do something, although I miss all the nap times I had during the day and Jezza Kyle. As I am still in the healing process, every now and then I experience a dull ache and had found that supporting my boobs helped ease the pain. I caught Phil (who is 1 foot taller than me) laughing his head off as I held my boobs at one point at my desk as the pain was quite bad. I think I might have to be a bit discrete when trying to ease my pain at work or just try and prop them up on my desk somehow.
I had quite a funny conversation with my Dad (who loves his Myprotein tops I bought him). He asked me how was recovery going and was I happy with the results. I went on to tell him how they felt gross when I had my first shower after surgery and he quickly replied telling me I didn’t have to go into detail and just let him know whether I was happy with them – that made me chuckle.
Below is what I currently look like (slightly chunkier than normal);

This was the first time I could get a tshirt on over my head.
I have logged my weight and will be working with my coach to see what we need to do to cut down in time for a competition I want to do in November. Obviously this is all dependent on how quickly I can start training upper body again.
And finally to end this rather random blog, it’s Facebook ‘Friend’ message of the past two weeks;
Facebook ‘Friend’: describes in a rather graphic way things he would like to perform during extra curricular activity time mostly performed in the bedroom (I can’t write down the details as my Dad reads my blogs)
Me: Thanks but who are you?
Facebook ‘Friend’: oh its Adam I have a new number
Me: I still don’t know who you are
Facebook ‘Friend’: sends a picture of his face (thank the lord)
Me: still have no idea
Facebook ‘Friend’: How are you?
Me: Ok now that I am going to block you
Blocked.
